Wesbond Company History
Wesbond Corporation is the fiber bonding industry leader. For nearly 50 years our systems and solutions have improved product quality, saved our customers time and money, and proven more environmentally safe.
Wesbond got its start in 1976 when Wes Jones and Wes Weidman left DuPont to form Wesolite Company. Wesolite licensed a process from DuPont (that Weidman had invented - US Patent 3,658,564) to manufacture low-temperature process insulation from perlite and sodium silicate.
After several years in business they incorporated Wesbond Corporation as they moved into the field of high-temperature refractory fiber insulation, specifically tailoring their products to the vacuum-forming industry.
For nearly 50 years we at Wesbond have been working to provide our colleagues in the fiber bonding industry with systems and solutions to improve product quality, save time and money, and be more environmentally safe.
Our products and systems have been effectively used by companies that vacuum form refractory ceramic fibers, mineral wool, and soluble fibers into insulating refractory boards and shapes, usually for direct exposure to flames or molten metals. These are used for furnace burner blocks and chambers, riser sleeves, pouring and tapping cones for foundries and smelters, and artificial fireplace logs.
Wesbond has patented the use of high-concentration wide-particle-size colloidal silica (US Patents 5,945,049 and 6,214,102) to produce stronger vacuum-formed shapes.
Previously, vacuum formers had to buy and use more than one product to floc and bond refractory fibers, but Wesbond has developed complete fiber-bonding systems, prepared in large master batches, that simplify additions and reduce errors.
As a supplier of materials and technology to the fiber-bonding industry, we have maintained an ongoing commitment to provide personalized technical support and assistance to our customers. If you need clarification, guidance, or have questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We want to help.
